RAZI INSTITUTE TO ATTEND THE 24th ANNUAL MEETING OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES VACCINE MANUFACTURE NETWORK (DCVMN) HOSTED BY SOUTH AFRICA

Dr. Ali Es-haghi, the General Director of Razi Institute highlighted that this annual meeting was organized in the city of Cape Town, South Africa from the 19th to the 21st of September 2023 and he pointed out some of the important achievements of the institute in the field of vaccine production, including:

  • opening up new export horizons,
  • exchange of knowledge and technology with other countries,
  • networking with international organizations,
  • visiting the mRNA vaccine production line and the research and development laboratory of this vaccine,
  • getting to know the vaccine manufacturing network, interacting with officials and experts from different companies and countries,
  • conducting training workshops,
  • negotiating with suppliers of raw materials and equipment,
  • introducing the institute's export product portfolio to applicant companies,
  • and receiving technical and specialized advice in specific areas of vaccine production.
  • The slogan used for this event was "Accelerating sustainable regional vaccine manufacturing through global partnerships."

According to the general director of the Razi Institute, Dr. Es-haghi, the main purpose of this meeting was to promote justice and equal access to healthcare services through the formation of networks of vaccine-producing countries. He went on to mention that developing countries often face challenges in accessing vaccines due to limited resources and high prices, but with the help of the network of vaccine-producing countries, it is possible to control vaccine manufacture and distribution, reduce gaps in access, and improve public health challenges.
 He also highlighted the importance of creating skills and local and indigenous technology of production for the organization. By doing so, the organization aims to help developing countries achieve self-sufficiency in vaccine manufacture and reduce their reliance on foreign manufacturers, which can greatly improve their supply chain security and reduce their dependence on global markets, especially during pandemics and health crises.
According to Dr. Ale-Es-haghi, the importance of a country's healthcare and vaccine production system, particularly for developing countries, has been increasingly recognized. To improve this field, global companies and organizations, including the World Health Organization, have been providing support through various initiatives, such as supporting local drug manufacturing companies, promoting research and development efforts in the field of vaccine manufacture, and providing opportunities for capacity-building.
Dr. Es-hagi also added, "The networks of vaccine-manufacturing countries offer a great opportunity to meet the global demand for vaccines, particularly in the event of new diseases or health crises. This not only serves the interests of developing countries but also contributes to global immunity and helps reduce the risk of pandemics."
Regarding the importance of this summit to achieve the development goals of Razi Institute, Dr. Es-haghi mentioned that this mission was carried out Considering the importance of being present in global markets in order to open new export horizons, exchange knowledge and technology with other foreign countries, as well as organizations and networks between International as DCVMN.
