The Razi Institute participated in a webinar, hosted by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, entitled "Exploring Collaboration Opportunities in African Countries in the Field of Vaccines and Sera." The webinar scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2023, in the Dr. Kaveh Hall. The purpose of the webinar was to investigate and explore potential collaboration opportunities between Iran and African countries in the field of vaccine and serum production. This event is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' effort to strengthen economic ties and cooperation with African nations.

The webinar, organized by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted several high-ranking officials, including Dr. Ali Es-haghi, the general director of the Razi Institute, Dr. Mohamadreza Nazeri, the deputy of Foreign Economic Relations Coordination, 22 Iranian ambassadors to several African countries, and other senior experts and managers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Iran) and the Razi Institute.

During the meeting, Dr. Nazeri, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Ali Es-haghi, the Razi Institute's director general, for his continuous follow-ups on issues in African countries. He noted that the Razi Institute, with its significant research and production capacities, plays a critical role in ensuring the country's Health & Food security and has the potential to engage in widespread cooperation in Africa.

Considering the government's focus on expanding relations with foreign nations, Nazeri stated that, amid the severe coercive sanctions imposed on Iran, the government's primary agenda is to form ties with the CIS and African countries. While doing so, Iran will continue its engagement with European nations. Moreover, the government intends to formulate regulations in the healthcare sector, particularly with respect to medications and vaccines, leveraging the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, among the active organizations involved in this domain.

Nazeri emphasized that creating a platform for export activities necessitates public and media diplomacy. He then noted that the Razi Institute must become more active in media, advertising, and branding, which will facilitate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' representatives in African countries to take effective measures in this regard.

The deputy of Foreign Economic Relations Coordination emphasized the importance of taking a pragmatic approach in assessing the capabilities of the involved parties and the need to establish a platform in the target countries. He also stressed the importance of leveraging the experience of reputable private sector activists, addressing the limitations and obstacles, and implementing an all-encompassing collaboration between the Razi Institute and the Economic Affairs Coordination Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help facilitate the Razi Institute's demands. Nazeri further commented that this office will collaborate with the Razi Institute in providing training courses for African countries' experts.
During the meeting, several ambassadors expressed their ideas and perspectives about the vaccine industry in the countries where they reside, and discussed some of the obstacles obstructing this endeavor, such as the longstanding presence of colonial governments through their corporations in African countries.
Dr. Es-haghi, while appreciating the attendees in the webinar, highlighted Razi Institute's capabilities to initiate its activities in African nations, despite all the challenges and hurdles.
Dr.Nazeri noted that another similar webinar will take place within the next month as a continuation of this meeting, and the results of the actions and follow-ups of negotiations from the meeting will be discussed in that meeting.
